Image: Northumbria Rose: Patagonia Mosqueta Rose Coin Mandala
Northumbria Rose : British variety of a standing, pentagonal-centred, Patagonia Mosqueta Rose Coin Mandala. It consists of 26 magnetic British coins totalling, by chance, exactly one pound sterling.

The coins are held together by the magnetic field generated by two Magic Penny magnets, reinforced by a neodymium magnet, below.

The UK coins present are: 10 x1p, and 5 x 2p, dating from 1992 (made of copper plated steel) and 6 x 5p and 5x10p, dated 2011 (made of nickel-plated steel). This array is just one of an increasing number of different geometrical rose/ wheel/ mandala coin arrays designed by the Magic Penny Trust and Ciencias y Artes Patagonia (CAPat), stimulated by the wild roses of Northumbria and Patagonia (mosquetas) and the rose windows of the cathedrals of Durham, Chartres, Paris and Prague.

Surely it might be said that in Britain in 2012, at least in this aspect, "the pound in your pocket" has increased in value!
